The King’s School Linbro Park promotes three key focus areas in the lives of our learners: Spiritual, Academic and Sport/Culture.

As our name suggests, our dominant and defining statement is that Jesus is Lord of all, our source of strength and inspiration and the one whose teaching and character we actively encourage our learners to emulate in all areas of their lives.

Our Student Affairs Department promotes a theme for our school each year. In 2017 the theme was Colossians 2: 6,7: “So then just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith and overflowing with thankfulness.” Our theme for 2018 is “Love My World” (based on 1 Corinthians 13).

We do indeed overflow with thankfulness to God for very significant achievements in the life of our school over many years; from our modest beginnings in 1986, to the present vibrant school of approximately 400 learners, from “Baby and Toddlers” all the way to “Matrics”.

Amongst all the general achievements we have celebrated over the years, the following stand out for me:

Our academic standard, throughout the grades, remains a focus area in our school. Whilst we will always formally celebrate all learners who show improvement, at various assemblies in our school year Certificates of Diligence, Top 10 Awards and other academic awards have been given to top academic achievers.

We are proud of the consistent success of our Matric Classes over many years, our school having achieved a 100% pass rate in the I.E.B. Matric Exams for as many years as we can remember.

We start each school year with a School Camp, where the faith of many learners is strengthened and School Spirit is fostered. Throughout the years there have been many testimonies of spiritual growth and the overcoming of various obstacles in the lives of learners.

Our Sports achievements have been many over the years. Whilst our size prevents us from competing against the top schools, our sports teams have excelled in the leagues in which we compete, with a high win percentage of games played. We are proud to compete in a range of sports, including Soccer, Netball, Cricket, Volleyball, Athletics, Swimming and Drum Majorettes.

We have always been known as a school which “punches way above our weight” in the sporting arena. Our learners regularly qualify for the SACSSA (South African Christian Schools Sports Assoc.) sports meetings, which is a big pool of all Christian Schools in SA. By way of example, our school excelled recently at SACSSA Athletics, winning 11 medals in total.

On the Cultural side, our annual school plays always elicit high praise and it is pleasing that each year a new level of excellence in entertainment and professionalism seems to be reached. King’s School learners participate in external Eisteddfods (Junior and High School) and we have always done extremely well.

I foresee our school flourishing in Arts and Drama into the future.

I am extremely proud of and thankful for all the teachers at our school, whose talent, dedication and genuine care for each learner would be hard to find at any other school.

As I conclude, I have a vision for the wider community of The King’s School Linbro Park, in which staff, learners, parents of King’s School and our Board (largely LRC Church elders) function as a community which supports and respects each other for the greater good.

I recall fun days of celebrating this wider community, such as our Gala Day, our Movie Night on the school field and our Family Fun Day. These events are essential in building our partnerships at King’s School and under the guidance of our very active IPG committee, I look forward to forging ever stronger links in our King’s School community.

I recently addressed a number of pre- school principals who visited our school and in tracing the history of our school from 1986 to the present, I was reminded of God’s gracious hand over our school over so many years. Based on His incredible faithfulness, I have total confidence in the future of our school and am truly excited for all that God has placed in my heart regarding our school.

God’s blessing,
Principal Terry Currin
